In the past, there were only a few simple ways to measure your site’s performance. But these days, there are lots of tools available to help you measure your progress with keywords and SEO. 5 Easy Ways to Check if SEO and Keywords are Working on Your Site
1. Checking your website’s SEO with Google Analytics
So, you’re looking at your website’s analytics, you’ve got your SEO keywords on there, and you’re wondering if they’re working. But how does one go about finding that out?
In order to check if your website is being found by search engines, you need to look at your analytics. Google Analytics is the most popular website analytics software, used on more than 25% of the top 10,000 websites. If you are using Google Analytics, then you can access the SEO section to see whether your website is being found by search engines. If you are not using Google Analytics, you might want to consider switching to it. Google Analytics is really easy it is to use as well.
2. Check your site’s ranking with a keyword tracking tool
When it comes to tracking your progress on a keyword or phrase, you can use a keyword tracking tool (some people call them keyword tools). These tools allow you to enter the keyword or phrase that you want to track; then, the tool will show you how many times it has been searched for and how your site is ranking for that keyword. The tool will also give you a list of keywords that are similar to the one that you entered and show you the ones that are searched for the most.
3. Check your keyword rankings daily
In order to see how well your keywords are doing, you will need to check them every day. Google Analytics has some pretty good keyword research tools, but you can also use other keyword research tools to check how you’re doing. You can use SEMRush.com to check rankings, but there are others as well. And a better idea is to invest in a keyword checker for agencies that can help you automate checking to save time and check them as much as you want. It’s a good idea to check them every day because as you work on your SEO strategy.
If you’re not doing daily checks, you might be doing something wrong. It’s good to check your web page rankings on the day you post, the day after, and the week after. This will help you get an idea of how much your keywords are doing on a daily basis.
4. Monitor your site’s bounce rate and time-on-site
A bounce is when someone visits just one page on your website, then leaves. If a visitor bounces, it means your page didn’t meet their expectations. So, it’s useful to know how often people are bouncing from your site. You’ll have a lot of information when you use Google Analytics, but here are two things you can look at to find out if people are bouncing from your site:
- The bounce rate. The bounce rate is the percentage of single-page sessions on your site. For example, if you have 100 sessions and 50 of them are single-page sessions, your bounce rate is 50%.
- The average time on your site. Watch the average time on your site to see if it’s increasing over time. It will give you a picture of how long people are spending on your site and the average amount of pages they’re viewing.
5. Keyword ranking isn’t enough, though, as you need to see how many page views and leads that translates into
A lot of people will rank for a lot of keywords and think they’re doing a great job. Then they’ll get some leads and think that means they’re doing a great job. Then they’ll get some more leads and think they’re doing a great job. And that’s when they’ll realize they have to optimize their on-page SEO. Optimizing on-page SEO isn’t that challenging. You’ll need to check if your title, meta description, and body content are optimized for conversion. So, if you’re looking to boost your SEO, then you need to check your keyword ranking, as well as your on-page SEO.
