The SEO Process for New Website in 2018 – 2019

seo process for new website

So you’ve just put up a new website and you want to understand the whole SEO process behind it.

In this post, we’ll be going over the exact process for a new website.

Structuring your website

When you first install WordPress you need to structure your website.

This is going to help both users and Google understand your website better.

The best way to structure your website is to first understand what it will be talking about.

Let’s say you’ve created a gaming website, here could be a few things you talk about:

  1. Video games
  2. Board games
  3. Trading card games

You would then use the 3 things listed above as categories.

After you’ve created these categories, make sure to use them as your menu.

This is going to be the best way to structure your website.

TIP: You can even go a level deeper and create subcategories.

Keyword research

Keyword research is finding search queries that users have typed into a search engine in a data-driven way.

The way I like to explain keyword research is, if you’re not doing it, then you’re shooting in the dark. You don’t know what you’re aiming for.

Keyword research is simply finding searches that users have already typed into Google.

One way you can do this is by using keyword tools like Ubbersuggest or Keyword Shitter.

When creating a website, I like to do the keyword research all at once and record them all in a spreadsheet.

If you try and do keyword research everytime you create a post, it can get a little boring and tedious.

Creating content

After you’ve done the keyword research, you’re going to want to create content around the keyword you want to target.

Make sure you create long and in-depth articles since Google favors them the most.

Make sure you cater to the user experience. This means you have multimedia like images and videos in your content.

The best way of creating content is by serving users as best you can.

On page SEO

When you’ve finished creating the content, you’re going to have to do the on page SEO.

On page SEO is simply optimizing the on page elements so Google can understand what the content is about.

On page elements can include things like images, text, URL and more.

Here are a few things you must make sure you’ve optimized:

  • Images
  • Videos
  • Text
  • Keyword placements
  • URL structure

Off page SEO

Off SEO is simply creating backlinks to your website. A backlink is simply a link from one website to another website.

You can think of these backlinks as votes, the more you have, the higher you will rank.

There are so many ways to build backlinks to your website.

When you first create your website, make sure you have created your foundational backlinks.

Foundational backlinks include things like:

  • Social media profiles
  • Local directories
  • Forum profiles
  • Branded web 2.0s and more

After you’ve created your foundational backlinks, you can focus on ranking each page.

Here are some links that you will want to build to the pages you want to rank:

  • Guest posts
  • Expired web 2.0s
  • Forum posts
  • Blog comments

Conclusion

So that was the SEO process for a new website.

This is the exact process you’re going to want to go through when you’ve just put up your brand spanking new website.
